Project Type: Structure Design
ARC 204 - Introduction to Architectural Design Michael Meredith (MOS Architects)
As a Tetris player one aims to create a continuous image by fitting all the pieces together: a puzzle that, when done correctly, reveals an uninterrupted solid with no voids in between. Tetrispace employs the aforementioned mechanism; but instead of using two-dimensional pieces, volume is embraced. Contrary to the objective of the arcade game, voids are generated on purpose in order to allow movement from one piece to another. Thus, Tetrispace fails to achieve an uninterrupted volume (the cube) by misplacing and / or experimenting with the location of each of the pieces.
